Dispatch-Ready: New Jobsite Safety Checklist Now Standard

Jan 8, 2026By Black Hat Welders

We’ve rolled out a tighter pre-weld and post-weld checklist for every call. It reduces rework, improves documentation, and keeps projects moving.

When welding happens in the field, the jobsite is the “shop.” That means conditions change fast: wind, access, power, surface contamination, traffic flow, and schedule pressure.

Starting this week, Black Hat Welders is making a dispatch-ready safety checklist part of every service call, whether we’re reinforcing equipment, repairing a cracked bracket, or handling structural work.

What’s included in the checklist

  • Site access + hazards: clearance, traffic routes, and safe work zone setup
  • Material confirmation: steel/aluminum/stainless identification and thickness check
  • Weld procedure basics: process selection (MIG/TIG/Stick), fit-up verification, cleanliness requirements
  • Heat control + protection: spark containment, fire watch, shielding, and nearby asset protection
  • Post-weld verification: visual inspection, measurements, and jobsite clean-up
  • Documentation: before/after photos and notes for owners, PMs, or facility records

Why this matters to customers

This isn’t “extra paperwork.” It’s a proven way to prevent:

  • Repeat trips due to access issues
  • Rework from dirty base metal or incorrect prep
  • Delays from unsafe site conditions
  • Confusion when multiple trades touch the same area

The bottom line

If you’re managing a schedule, predictability beats heroics. This checklist keeps work cleaner, safer, and easier to approve.
